MainX24
December 4th, Chattanooga had its second annual festival called Main X 24; which highlighted Chattanooga's South Side District. Now, I myself have not had the pleasure of hanging out there until this Saturday. My day started with a pancake breakfast with the roommates at a Fire Station.
The pancakes were made by lovely older ladies and gentleman who served fluffy pancake goodness, happily. The atmosphere of the whole festival was one of exploration.
Main Street is lined with Art Galleries, performance studios, and local eateries. The street it self was a work of Art. To the unassuming eye, the hollowed out buildings are just hollow buildings filled with rubble. However, from the right angle one could see that it was once a very beautiful structure.
The festival had everything from family fun to DJ Cletus. Oh, DJ Cletus was the DJ that stole my heart with his smooth Reggaeton beats, blue eyes, and cloy smile. Gosh! Apologies would be made about veering off subject however the apology would be meaningless and empty.
After, watching the parade, sampling lard doughnuts, and firehouse pancakes. It was time for some much need rest before the parties started.
The first party was at the Bread Lofts with DJ Poiriner from Montreal. The Lofts were cool literally and figuratively, as cold as it was, one could not help but feel like one of the cool kids. After leaving, the Lofts next stop was the Hair Lounge; which was a new hair Salon on the corner of Main and Market. Even if you do not get your hair done, it is beautifully decorated, you may want to hang out there with a glass of Champagne and get a manicure.
After, the hair Lounge we picked up some boys and headed for the Main Event! We arrived at the Loose Cannon Art Gallary located on Rossville Avenue.
The Main Event had something for everybody, free food, cash bar, and fantastic music. There were two musical acts; the Russell Smith Band who preformed for the first 2 1/2 hours and for the last 2 1/2 DJ Wiz Kidd!
The Main Event cost twenty dollars and it was twenty dollars well spent! By the end of the night, feet were throbbing, backs aching, and throats were raw from screaming.
December 4 2010 a total of 18 hours were spent on Main Street exploring the art district, listening to great music, and eating delicious food. This event introduced would introduce the most sheltered of human beings to Chattanooga.
